With Garance Marillier, the future star of Grave, 13 years old at the time.
Julia Ducournau has just won the Palme d’Or with her second feature film, Titane . But the story of the French director and the Festival does not date from yesterday. In 2016, she was already causing a sensation with Grave , at the Semaine de la critique. And in 2011, when she was only 27, she presented her first short film, Junior , with her favorite actress Garance Marillier.
Like Grave and Titane , Junior explores the theme of the body and transformation. It tells the story of 13-year-old Justine, a tomboy girl who undergoes a strange metamorphosis after being diagnosed with severe gastroenteritis. Unifrance has uploaded this short 21-minute film for free on its YouTube channel, until August 21, 2021.
